February 24, 2020 White Plains, NY – Last Friday, Boston’s influential rock station WAAF-FM (107.3) signed off the air – experiencing one last spike in radio listeners for that day. The afternoon was filled with special guest appearances, including former morning personality Greg HIll and Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton. Various artists also called in throughout the day, such as Lajon Witherspoon from Sevendust and Brent Smith from Shinedown.
Media Monitors analyzed changes in PPM listening for the station on February 22nd, 2019 using our new breakthrough programming tool, Audio Overnights. When looking at the last week of data for WAAF-FM, there appears to be a significant increase in PPM listening for its last day. In addition, its final daypart experienced a surge in QHRS.
This is a great example of how a monumental event for a radio station can have a huge impact on listeners and how long they tune in for.
